Song of Solomon 1: The Song of Songs

The book begins, The Song of songs, which is Solomon's. The title means the best of all songs. Song of Songs is a poem that celebrates the love between a bride and her groom in marriage, which God created as a good gift. In chapter 1 the bride asks where her beloved grazes his flock and rests them at noon. She is told to follow the tracks of the sheep and graze her young goats beside the shepherds' tents. Many Christians also read the Song as a picture of Christ's love for His church; this is an interpretation.
