About The Daily Rooted
Hi, I'm Alexander Brazones. My students know me as Mr. Brazones. I teach middle school science and technology, and I started The Daily Rooted as a Rooted Learning project.
The problem
Many current-events sites for schools are written for just one grade band. That works for one classroom, but it means a whole school can't follow the news together. The kindergartners and the seniors end up reading about different things, or nothing at all.
Our approach
The Daily Rooted is built on purpose so students and teachers in every grade, K–12, can keep up with what's happening in the world. Every story has four versions, for grades K–2, 3–5, 6–8 and 9–12, so a family or a whole school can talk about the same news at the dinner table or in the hallway. And it's not only science: stories cover every school subject, from history and geography to math, literature, the arts and civics.
