Psalms 22: From Forsaken to Praise

The title says this psalm is for the Chief Musician, set to The Doe of the Morning, and is a Psalm by David. It begins, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? The writer is mocked and surrounded by enemies and describes terrible suffering. Yet he remembers that God is holy and that the fathers trusted God and were delivered. He cries for help, and then the psalm turns to praise: all the ends of the earth shall turn to Yahweh, and future generations shall be told about the Lord. In the New Testament, Jesus speaks the opening words on the cross (Matthew 27:46).
