Genesis 17: New Names and a Covenant Sign

When Abram was ninety-nine, God appeared as God Almighty and renewed His covenant. He changed Abram's name to Abraham, father of a multitude, and Sarai's name to Sarah. God gave circumcision as the sign of the covenant for Abraham's household. God promised that Sarah would have a son named Isaac within a year, and that He would also bless Ishmael.
