Luke 6 shows Jesus as Lord of the Sabbath. When His disciples picked grain, He reminded the Pharisees how David once ate holy bread when he was hungry. When He saw a man with a withered hand, He healed him in front of everyone. The leaders cared more about their rules than about the man. Jesus showed that God's day of rest is a perfect day for mercy.
Before an important choice, Jesus prayed all night. Then He named twelve apostles. Standing on a level place, He spoke to a great crowd. His blessings turned the world upside down: the poor, the hungry and the sorrowful are blessed, because God's Kingdom belongs to them. Woe to those who are rich and full yet ignore God, because their comfort will not last.
The center of the sermon is love. Jesus said to love enemies, do good to those who hate you, and lend without expecting anything back. Give, and it will be given to you. Then you will be children of the Most High, who is kind even to the unthankful. Jesus warned against judging others while ignoring our own sin. He ended by asking why people call Him Lord but do not do what He says. The one who hears and obeys is like a man who dug deep and built on the rock.
