Ezekiel 40: A Vision of a New Temple

In the twenty-fifth year of the exile, fourteen years after Jerusalem fell, Ezekiel says the hand of Yahweh was on him. In visions of God he was brought to the land of Israel and set on a very high mountain, where he saw something like the frame of a city. There he saw a man whose appearance was like bronze, holding a linen cord and a measuring reed. The man told Ezekiel to look with his eyes, hear with his ears, and set his heart on all he would be shown, so he could tell the house of Israel. The man measured the outer wall, the east gate with its guard rooms and porch, the outer court with its rooms and pavement, the north and south gates, the gates of the inner court, the tables for preparing offerings, the rooms for the singers and priests, and the inner court with the altar before the house. Finally he measured the porch of the temple itself.
