Exodus 23: Justice, Rest and God's Angel

God commanded His people not to spread false reports, follow a crowd in doing wrong, or twist justice for anyone, rich or poor. They were to help even an enemy's straying ox or donkey, take no bribes and not oppress foreigners. Every seventh year the land would rest so the poor could eat, and every seventh day people and animals would rest. Israel was to keep three yearly feasts to the Lord. God promised to send an angel ahead of them to guard them and bring them to the land He had prepared, and to drive out their enemies little by little.
