Daniel 6: Daniel in the Lions' Den

Daniel 6 tells how Darius set Daniel over the kingdom because an excellent spirit was in him. Jealous officials could find no fault in him, so they tricked the king into a decree that no one could pray to any god or man for thirty days, except the king. Daniel kneeled on his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did before. He was cast into the den of lions, but God sent his angel, and has shut the lions' mouths. Darius decreed that all should fear before the God of Daniel.
