Daniel 6 · Grade 3
Faithful in Prayer
Read the Story
King Darius put Daniel over the kingdom, because an excellent spirit was in him. Other leaders wanted to find something wrong with Daniel, but they could find no fault, because he was faithful. So they asked the king to sign a law. For thirty days, anyone who prayed to any god or man except the king would be cast into the den of lions.
Daniel knew about the law. He went into his house, where his windows were open toward Jerusalem. He kneeled on his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did before. The men told the king. The king tried all day to rescue him, but the law could not be changed.
Daniel was put into the den. The king said to him, Your God whom you serve continually, he will deliver you. Early in the morning, the king hurried to the den. Daniel answered, My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions' mouths. Daniel was not hurt, because he had trusted in his God.
Memory Verse
“My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me, because innocence was found in me before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.””
