Acts 5 · Grade 3
God Opens the Doors
Read the Story
Ananias and his wife Sapphira sold some land. They kept back part of the money but acted as if they gave it all. Peter said they had lied to God. Both of them died, and great fear came on the church.
The apostles did many signs and wonders. People laid the sick in the streets so Peter's shadow might fall on them. Many were healed.
The high priest was jealous and put the apostles in prison. But at night an angel of the Lord opened the doors. He told them to go and speak in the temple. In the morning they were teaching there.
The council told them again to stop. Peter and the apostles answered that they must obey God rather than men (Acts 5:29). A teacher named Gamaliel told the council to leave them alone. The apostles left glad. Every day they kept teaching about Jesus.
