2 Corinthians 1: The God of All Comfort

Paul opens his second letter to Corinth by praising the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort. God comforts His people in every trouble so they can comfort others with the same comfort. Paul describes a time in Asia when the pressure was so great he despaired of life, yet it taught him to rely on God, who raises the dead. He explains that his change of travel plans was not fickle, because all God's promises are Yes in Christ, and God has sealed believers with His Spirit.
