Zephaniah 1 · Grade 3
Be Silent Before God
Read the Story
Zephaniah 1:1 says Yahweh's word came to Zephaniah in the days of Josiah, king of Judah. God was not happy with Judah. Many had turned back from following Yahweh. Some also worshiped Baal and the stars.
Zephaniah said, be silent at the presence of the Lord Yahweh, for the day of Yahweh is at hand. God said he would search Jerusalem with lamps. Some people thought God would do nothing.
Zephaniah said the great day of Yahweh is near. It would be a day of trouble and of the trumpet. Neither their silver nor their gold would be able to save them.
Memory Verse
“Be silent at the presence of the Lord Yahweh, for the day of Yahweh is at hand. For Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice. He has consecrated his guests.”
