Titus 2 · Grade 4
The Grace of God Has Appeared
Read and Think
Paul tells Titus to teach what fits sound doctrine. Older men should be sensible and sound in faith, love, and perseverance. Older women should be reverent and teach what is good, so they can train young wives to love their husbands and children, to be kind and pure, and to care for their homes. Younger men should be self-controlled. Paul tells Titus to be an example of good works and to teach with integrity.
Paul also tells Titus to urge servants to please their masters in all things, not to talk back or steal, but to be faithful. Paul gives the reason: so they would adorn the teaching about God our Savior in everything they do. This was a word to bondservants of that time.
Then Paul writes: For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men. Grace trains us to reject ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives now. We look for the blessed hope, the appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave Himself for us to set us free from sin and make a people of His own, eager to do good works.
