Ruth's Choice
Read the Story
In the days when the judges judged, there was a famine. Elimelech of Bethlehem Judah went to Moab with his wife Naomi and his sons Mahlon and Chilion. The sons married Orpah and Ruth.
Elimelech died, and then Mahlon and Chilion died. Naomi was left without her husband and her two sons. She heard that Yahweh had visited His people in giving them bread, so she started home.
Naomi told her daughters-in-law to return to their mothers' houses. Orpah kissed her and went back. But Ruth said, Where you go, I will go. Your people will be my people, and your God my God. In Bethlehem, Naomi said, Don't call me Naomi. Call me Mara. They arrived at the beginning of barley harvest.
Memory Verse
“Ruth said, “Don’t urge me to leave you, and to return from following you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God.”
