Romans 9 · Grade 3
Of God Who Has Mercy
Read the Story
Paul says he has great sorrow in his heart. He loves his own people, the Israelites. God gave them the covenants, the law, and the promises. Christ came from their family.
"But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing." God keeps his promises. God chose to give his promise through Isaac and then Jacob.
God said to Moses that he will have mercy on whom he chooses. "So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy."
Paul says God is like a potter who shapes clay. God calls people his own who were not his people before. Paul says that no one who believes in God's promised one will be disappointed.
