Read and Think

In Numbers 27, God gave Zelophehad's daughters their father's land. Now their relatives raised a new concern. If the daughters married into other tribes, their land would pass to those tribes, and Manasseh's portion would shrink.

Moses brought the question to God and gave His answer. The daughters were free to marry whom they chose, as long as their husbands were from their own tribe. That way, each tribe's inheritance stayed whole. God's answer protected both the daughters and their tribe.

The five sisters obeyed and married their cousins. So Numbers ends with a family trusting God's word. Numbers began with a census in the wilderness and ends with a new generation ready to enter the land.
