Numbers 36 · Grade 3
The Inheritance Stays
Read the Story
The heads of the families of Gilead came to Moses. They said, God commanded that Zelophehad's land be given to his daughters. But if they marry men of another tribe, the land will move to that tribe.
Moses answered by the word of Yahweh. The tribe of Joseph speaks what is right, he said. The daughters may marry whom they think best, but only within their father's tribe. No inheritance would move from tribe to tribe.
Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah did as Yahweh commanded Moses. They married into the families of Manasseh. Their inheritance stayed in their father's tribe.
Memory Verse
“Moses commanded the children of Israel according to Yahweh’s word, saying, “The tribe of the sons of Joseph speak what is right.”
