  1. What were the wise men looking for? The newborn King of the Jews (Jesus), so they could worship Him
  2. How did King Herod feel when he heard about the new King? He was troubled (upset); he did not want another king.
  3. How did the wise men know where to go? The star led them, and the prophet said Bethlehem.
  4. Why did the wise men go home another way? God warned them in a dream not to go back to Herod.
  5. Where did Jesus' family go to stay safe? Egypt

Grade 4Worship or Fear?

  1. Why did the wise men come to Jerusalem? To find and worship the newborn King of the Jews; they had seen His star.
  2. How did the chief priests know the King would be born in Bethlehem? The prophet (Micah) had written it in the Scriptures.
  3. Describe the wise men's response when they found Jesus. They rejoiced with great joy, bowed and worshiped Him, and gave gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
  4. How did God protect Jesus? He warned Joseph in a dream to flee to Egypt, and Joseph obeyed that night.

Grade 5The King Whom the Nations Seek

  1. Contrast the responses of the wise men and Herod to Jesus. The wise men sought and worshiped Him; Herod was troubled, lied and tried to destroy Him.
  2. What three ways did God guide the wise men? A star, the Scriptures (the prophecy about Bethlehem), and a dream
  3. Why is it significant that the wise men were from the east? They were Gentiles (non-Jews), showing Jesus came for all nations.
  4. How many times did Joseph obey God's guidance through dreams in this chapter? Three times: to flee to Egypt (2:13), to return to Israel (2:19-20), and to go to Galilee (2:22).
  5. Name two places connected to Jesus' childhood that fulfilled Scripture. Bethlehem, Egypt, Nazareth (any two)
