Luke 19 · Grade 3
Salvation Comes Home
Read the Story
Jesus passed through Jericho. Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, was rich but short. He ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus. Jesus looked up and called him by name. He said He must stay at his house today. People grumbled that Jesus visited a sinner. But Zacchaeus stood up and promised to give half his goods to the poor. He would pay back four times anyone he had cheated. Jesus said salvation had come to his house.
Jesus told a story about a nobleman who gave money to his servants before going away. The faithful servants used it well and were rewarded. One hid the money and did nothing.
Then Jesus sent for a colt. He rode toward Jerusalem while people spread their cloaks on the road. The crowd praised God. Some Pharisees told Jesus to stop them. He said if they kept quiet, the stones would cry out.
