Luke 17 teaches about the everyday faith of a disciple. Jesus warned that causing a little one to sin is very serious. He told His followers to rebuke a brother who sins and to forgive him when he repents, even seven times in a day. The apostles responded, Increase our faith. Jesus explained that faith like a mustard seed is powerful, because what matters is the One we trust. He also said that after doing all we are told, we should say we are unworthy servants who have only done our duty.
On the border between Samaria and Galilee, ten lepers cried out for mercy. Jesus told them to go to the priests, and they were cleansed on the way. All ten received healing, but only one turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice. He fell on his face at Jesus' feet. Jesus noted that this thankful man was a foreigner. He said, Your faith has healed you. The man received more than healing. He received a relationship with Jesus.
The chapter ends with Jesus teaching about the Kingdom. It was already present among them in Jesus Himself. Yet the Son of Man would come again in a day of judgment, as sudden as the flood in Noah's day. He told them to remember Lot's wife, who looked back. Jesus' followers must not cling to this world but be ready for Him.
