Jude 1: Contend for the Faith

Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, writes to those who are called, loved by God and kept for Jesus Christ. He urges them to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints, because ungodly people have crept in who turn God’s grace into an excuse for immorality and deny Jesus. Jude reminds them of judgments in the past and calls these people clouds without water and wandering stars. Believers should build themselves up in their faith, pray in the Holy Spirit, keep themselves in God’s love and show mercy. Jude ends praising God, who is able to keep them from stumbling.
