Jeremiah 23 · Grade 3
A Righteous Branch for David
Read the Story
God said woe to the shepherds who scatter the sheep of his pasture. These shepherds were leaders who did not care for the people. God said he would gather the remnant of his flock himself.
God promised to set up shepherds who would feed them. Then they would no longer be afraid. God also promised to raise to David a righteous Branch. He will reign as king and deal wisely. This is his name by which he will be called: Yahweh our righteousness.
God also warned about false prophets. They told people that all would be well. God said no one can hide in secret places so that he can't see him. God fills heaven and earth. His word is like fire and like a hammer that breaks the rock.
Memory Verse
““Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that I will raise to David a righteous Branch; and he will reign as king and deal wisely, and will execute justice and righteousness in the land.”
