Hosea 5 · Grade 4
Israel Is Not Hidden
Read and Think
Hosea 5 opens with a call to listen. Listen to this, you priests! Listen, house of Israel, and give ear, house of the king! God said, I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me. The leaders had been a trap for the people instead of guides.
Their deeds won't allow them to turn to their God, for the spirit of prostitution is within them. Hosea uses this phrase for their love of false gods. They would come with their flocks to seek Yahweh, but they would not find Him, because their hearts were not truly turned to Him.
When Ephraim saw his sickness, he went to Assyria. But the king of Assyria is not able to heal you. God said He was like a moth and like a lion to them. Then He said, I will go and return to my place, until they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face.

God waits for His people to seek His face. What does it mean to seek God's face?

Take It Home
For families: talk about these together.
- Those in charge had become like a snare. When you lead others, how can you help them instead of hurt them?
- How can you look for God when you have messed up?
