Ezra 7 · Grade 3
A Heart for God's Law
Read the Story
Years after the temple was finished, a priest named Ezra went up from Babylon. He was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses. The king gave him all he asked, because the hand of Yahweh his God was on him.
Ezra traveled for about four months to reach Jerusalem. Ezra had set his heart to seek Yahweh's law, to do it, and to teach its statutes in Israel.
King Artaxerxes gave Ezra a letter. Any of God's people could go with him. The king sent silver and gold for God's house. He told Ezra to choose judges who knew God's law and to teach those who did not know it. Ezra blessed Yahweh, who had put this in the king's heart.
Memory Verse
