Ezra 6 · Grade 3
Finished at Last
Read the Story
King Darius had the records searched. In the palace at Achmetha, a scroll was found. It held the decree of Cyrus that God's house in Jerusalem should be built, and that the gold and silver vessels should be returned.
Darius told Tattenai to stay away and let the work go on. He also ordered that the costs be paid from the king's taxes. The elders of the Jews built and did well, through the words of Haggai and Zechariah the prophets.
The house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, in the sixth year of Darius. The people dedicated God's house with joy. Then they kept the Passover. Yahweh had made them joyful and had turned the king's heart toward them.
Memory Verse
“This house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.”
