Ezra 5 · Grade 3
The Eye of God
Read the Story
The work on God's house had stopped for years. Then the prophets Haggai and Zechariah spoke to the Jews in the name of the God of Israel. Zerubbabel and Jeshua rose up and began to build again, and the prophets of God helped them.
Tattenai the governor and his friends came and asked who had given them a decree to build. But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, and the work was not made to stop.
Tattenai wrote a letter to King Darius. He told the king that the Jews said they were servants of the God of heaven and earth. They said King Cyrus had made a decree to build this house of God. Tattenai asked the king to search the records.
Memory Verse
“But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, and they didn’t make them cease until the matter should come to Darius, and an answer should be returned by letter concerning it.”
