A King Says Go

Name Date

Read the Story

God's people lived far from home. They lived in a land called Babylon. Their city, Jerusalem, was broken. God's house there was gone.

God had made a promise. He said His people would go home. Then God moved the heart of a king. The king's name was Cyrus.

Cyrus sent out a letter. It said that God's people could go home. They could build God's house again. Friends gave them gold and silver. The king gave back God's cups and bowls. The people got ready to go!

Memory Verse

“Whoever there is among you of all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of Yahweh, the God of Israel (he is God), which is in Jerusalem.”

Ezra 1:3 (WEB)
