Ezekiel 29: Egypt the Reed

In the tenth year, God told Ezekiel to prophesy against Pharaoh king of Egypt. Pharaoh was like a great monster lying in the Nile, saying, My river is my own, and I have made it for myself. God said he would draw him out of the river. Egypt had been a staff of reed to the house of Israel: when Israel leaned on it for help, it broke and hurt them. Because of Egypt's pride, the land would be desolate for forty years. At the end of forty years, God would gather the Egyptians again, but Egypt would be a lowly kingdom and would never again be the one Israel trusted. In the twenty-seventh year, God told Ezekiel that he would give Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar as payment for his long work against Tyre. On that day God would make a horn sprout for Israel and open Ezekiel's mouth among them.
