Ezekiel 2: Ezekiel Is Sent

The voice Ezekiel heard told him to stand on his feet, and the Spirit entered into him and set him on his feet. God called him son of man and sent him to the children of Israel, a rebellious nation. Whether they would hear or refuse, they would know a prophet had been among them. God told Ezekiel not to be afraid of their words or their looks, and not to be rebellious himself. Ezekiel says he then saw a hand stretched out to him holding a scroll, written inside and out with lamentations, mourning, and woe.
