Exodus 24 · Grade 4
A Covenant Sealed
Read and Think
A covenant is a serious promise that binds two sides together. At Sinai, God made a covenant with Israel. Moses read God's words, and the people promised, We will do all that Yahweh has said, and be obedient.
The covenant was sealed with the blood of sacrifices. Blood showed that sin is serious and that life must be given. In the New Testament, at the Last Supper, Jesus speaks of his blood of the covenant (Matthew 26:28).
The leaders ate a meal in God's presence, and Moses went into the glory cloud. God wants His people to have fellowship with Him. In the New Testament, Hebrews says that through Jesus, we can come close to God.
