The Blood of the Covenant

Name Date

Read the Story

Moses came and told the people all of God's words. The people answered with one voice, All the words which Yahweh has spoken we will do. Moses wrote them down. In the morning he built an altar at the foot of the mountain with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes. Young men offered sacrifices to God.

Moses took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They said, We will do all that Yahweh has said, and be obedient. Moses sprinkled blood on the people and said, Look, this is the blood of the covenant, which Yahweh has made with you.

Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and seventy elders went up. They saw the God of Israel. Under His feet was something like a pavement of sapphire stone, as clear as the sky. They ate and drank there. Then God called Moses higher to receive tablets of stone. The cloud covered the mountain for six days. On the seventh day, God called to Moses. The glory of the Lord looked like a burning fire. Moses went into the cloud and stayed forty days and forty nights.
