Ephesians 6 · Grade 4

Put On the Whole Armor of God

Name Date

Read and Think

Paul gives instructions for homes. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. He reminds them of the commandment to honor father and mother, the first commandment with a promise. Fathers must not provoke their children to anger but raise them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Paul also speaks to servants and masters. Servants are to work with a sincere heart, doing service as to the Lord and not to men. Masters are told to treat them the same way and give up threatening, knowing that their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.

Then Paul says, Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. The armor includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the Good News of peace, the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Paul asks for prayer at all times, including for him, an ambassador in chains.
