Deuteronomy 1 · Grade 3
Remember the Way
Read the Story
Deuteronomy begins with Moses speaking to all Israel. They were camped beyond the Jordan in the land of Moab. Moses began to explain God's law and to remind them of their journey.
At Horeb, God told them they had stayed at the mountain long enough. The people had grown as many as the stars. Moses chose wise men from each tribe to be judges. He told them to judge fairly, for the judgment is God's.
Twelve spies saw the good land and brought back fruit. But the people grumbled and would not go up. They did not believe God, who had carried them through the wilderness. So that whole group would not enter the land, except Caleb and Joshua.
Memory Verse
“Behold, Yahweh your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as Yahweh the God of your fathers has spoken to you. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed.””
