Amos 7 · Grade 3
A Plumb Line
Read the Story
God showed Amos locusts eating the land. Amos prayed, Lord Yahweh, forgive, I beg you! Yahweh relented concerning this. Then God showed fire, and Amos prayed again. God listened again.
Then Amos saw the Lord with a plumb line in his hand. A plumb line is a string with a weight. It shows if a wall is straight. God would measure His people.
A priest named Amaziah told Amos to go away. But Amos said he was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore figs. God took him from following the flock and said, Go, prophesy to my people Israel.
Memory Verse
“Yahweh said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said, “Behold, I will set a plumb line in the middle of my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.”
