The Road to Damascus

Name Date

Read and Think

Saul was still breathing threats against the disciples. He asked the high priest for letters to bring believers from Damascus to Jerusalem in chains.

As he came near Damascus, a light from the sky shone around him. He fell and heard a voice saying, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" He said, "Who are you, Lord?" The answer came: "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting." Saul was blind for three days and did not eat or drink.

The Lord sent Ananias. Ananias said he had heard of the evil Saul did. But the Lord called Saul his chosen vessel to bear his name before the nations and kings (Acts 9:15). Ananias called him "Brother Saul" and laid hands on him. Saul received his sight and was baptized.

Saul preached in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. When some plotted to kill him, the disciples let him down the wall in a basket. Barnabas vouched for him in Jerusalem. Peter told Aeneas, "Jesus Christ heals you," and at Joppa Peter prayed, and God raised Tabitha. Many believed in the Lord.
