Read the Story

After Stephen died, the believers in Jerusalem had a hard time. Saul put many of them in prison. The believers were scattered, but they went about telling the word.

Philip went to Samaria and told about the Christ. Many were healed, and there was great joy in that city. A man named Simon, who did magic, believed. But later he tried to buy the power of the Holy Spirit with money. Peter told him to repent.

An angel sent Philip to the road to Gaza. An officer from Ethiopia was going home in his chariot, reading the prophet Isaiah. The Spirit told Philip to go near. Philip asked if he understood what he was reading.

The man asked Philip to explain it. Beginning from that Scripture, Philip told him about Jesus (Acts 8:35). When they came to water, the officer was baptized and went on his way rejoicing.
