In the Name of Jesus

Name Date

Read the Story

Peter and John went up to the temple at the hour of prayer. A man who had been lame from birth was carried to the gate called Beautiful every day. He asked people for gifts as they went in.

Peter and John looked at him. Peter said, "Look at us." The man looked, hoping to get something. Peter said he had no silver or gold. But he gave what he had: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, he told the man to get up and walk (Acts 3:6).

Peter took his right hand and raised him up. At once his feet and ankles grew strong. He went into the temple with them, walking, leaping, and praising God.

The people ran together in wonder. Peter told them not to look at him as if he had done it. He said God had raised Jesus, and faith in Jesus' name made the man strong (Acts 3:16). He told them to turn to God.

Memory Verse

But Peter said, “I have no silver or gold, but what I have, that I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!”

What I Have I Give

Name Date

Read and Think

Peter and John went to the temple at the ninth hour, the hour of prayer. A man lame from birth sat at the gate called Beautiful. He asked them for gifts.

Peter said, "Look at us." Then he said, "I have no silver or gold, but what I have, that I give you." In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, he told the man to get up and walk. Peter took him by the right hand. At once his feet grew strong. He went into the temple walking, leaping, and praising God.

The people were amazed. Peter asked why they looked at him as if his own power had done this. He said the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had glorified his servant Jesus. They had denied him, but God raised him from the dead. Faith in his name made this man strong (Acts 3:16).

Peter said they had acted in ignorance. He told them to repent and turn again, so that their sins might be blotted out. He said God sent his servant Jesus to bless them (Acts 3:26).

Times of Refreshing

Name Date

Read and Think

At the ninth hour, the hour of prayer, Peter and John went up to the temple. At the gate called Beautiful sat a man lame from birth, carried there daily to ask for gifts. Peter fastened his eyes on him and said, "Look at us." The man looked, expecting something.

Peter answered: "I have no silver or gold, but what I have, that I give you." In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth he told the man to walk, took him by the right hand, and raised him. Immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength, and he entered the temple walking, leaping, and praising God.

When the crowd gathered at Solomon's porch, Peter refused the credit. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had glorified his servant Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. It was faith through his name that gave the man this perfect soundness (Acts 3:16).

Peter granted that they had acted in ignorance, as had their rulers. Then he called them to repent and turn again so that their sins might be blotted out and times of refreshing might come from the Lord. He reminded them that Moses and all the prophets from Samuel onward had spoken of these days, and that God sent his servant Jesus first to bless them, turning each one away from wickedness (Acts 3:26).
