Stir Up the Gift

Name Date

Read the Story

Paul wrote to Timothy, whom he loved like a child. Paul prayed for him night and day. He remembered Timothy's tears and wanted to see him. Timothy had real faith. That faith lived first in his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice.

Paul told Timothy to stir up God's gift, like fanning a fire. God does not give us a fearful spirit. He gives power, love, and self-control. Paul told Timothy not to be ashamed to tell about Jesus.

Paul was a prisoner, but he was not ashamed. He knew Jesus, and he trusted Jesus to keep him safe. Paul thanked God for a friend named Onesiphorus. He searched for Paul in Rome and cheered him up.

Memory Verse

“For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.”
