2 John 1 · Grade 4
Remain in the Teaching
Read and Think
Second John is a short letter from the elder to the chosen lady and her children. He loves them in truth, as do all who know the truth. He greets them with grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. He rejoices that some of her children are walking in truth, as the Father commanded.
He asks them to keep the old commandment: love one another. Then he defines love: This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. Love and obedience go together.
The elder warns that many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don’t confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. Believers should watch themselves so they do not lose what they have worked for. Whoever remains in the teaching of Christ has both the Father and the Son. They should not welcome anyone who brings a different teaching. The elder plans to visit rather than write with paper and ink.
