2 Chronicles 7 · Grade 4
Humble, Pray, Seek, Turn
Read and Think
Solomon ended his prayer. Fire fell from heaven and burned up the offerings. Yahweh's glory filled the house. The priests could not go in. All Israel bowed to the ground and gave thanks. They said that he is good and his loving kindness endures forever.
Solomon and the people gave the house to God with many gifts. They kept a feast for seven days. Then Solomon sent the people home. They were joyful and glad of heart for God's goodness.
Then Yahweh came to Solomon by night. He made a promise. His people must humble themselves, pray, seek his face, and turn from their wicked ways. Then he will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land (7:14). God also gave a warning. If they turned to other gods, the house would become a byword.
