2 Chronicles 24 · Grade 3
A Chest at the Gate
Read the Story
Joash was seven years old when he began to reign. He did what was right in Yahweh's eyes all the days of Jehoiada the priest. After this, Joash decided to restore Yahweh's house.
The king had a chest made and set outside at the gate of Yahweh's house. They asked the people to bring the gift Moses commanded. All the leaders and people rejoiced. They brought gifts and filled the chest. Workers repaired the house and made it strong.
Jehoiada grew old and died at one hundred thirty. They buried him among the kings, for he had done good. After that, Joash and the leaders left Yahweh's house and served idols. God sent prophets, but they would not listen.
