1 Corinthians 5 · Grade 3
Christ Our Passover
Read the Story
Yeast is tiny, but it spreads through a whole lump of dough. Paul asked, Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump? He meant that sin is like yeast.
A member of the church in Corinth had done a serious wrong. The church did nothing about it. They were even proud. Paul wanted them to be sad about the sin and to lovingly correct it.
At Passover, Jewish families cleaned all the old yeast out of their homes. Paul said that Christ is like the Passover lamb. He was sacrificed for His people. So they should live with sincerity and truth.
Memory Verse
“Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed in our place.”
