The People Come Home

Name Date

Read the Story

All Israel was listed by family. Judah had been carried away to Babylon because they did not obey. Later some came home and lived in their cities again.

In Jerusalem there were priests and Levites. There were gatekeepers too. They guarded the gates of Yahweh's house on the east, west, north, and south.

The gatekeepers opened God's house morning by morning. Some Levites took care of the vessels, the flour, the oil, and the spices. Others made the bread. The singers were busy day and night.

Memory Verse

“Now the first inhabitants who lived in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the temple servants.”
