Prophesying with Music

Name Date

Read and Think

David and the captains of the army set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun for service. They were to prophesy with harps, stringed instruments, and cymbals. Jeduthun prophesied in giving thanks and praising Yahweh.

Heman was the king's seer, and God gave him fourteen sons and three daughters. All of them were under their father's hands for song in Yahweh's house. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the order of the king (25:6).

Two hundred eighty-eight were instructed in singing to Yahweh, all of them skillful. They cast lots for their duties, the small as well as the great, the teacher as well as the student. Each of the twenty-four lots named a leader with his sons and brothers, twelve in each group.
