1 Chronicles 22 · Grade 4

Preparing Abundantly

Name Date

Read and Think

After God answered by fire, David declared that this was the house of Yahweh God and the altar of burnt offering for Israel. He gathered the foreigners in the land to cut stones. He prepared iron for nails, bronze without weight, and more cedar than could be counted.

David reasoned that Solomon was young and tender, and the house must be exceedingly magnificent. So he prepared abundantly before his death. He told Solomon that he had wanted to build, but God said he had shed much blood. God had promised a son who would be a man of peace, named Solomon.

David charged Solomon to keep the law of Yahweh. Then he would prosper, if he took heed to do what Moses was commanded. He told him to be strong and courageous, and not to be afraid. He commanded the princes to help Solomon, to set their heart and soul to seek Yahweh, and to arise and build.

Think About It

  1. David could not build the temple, but he prepared everything for his son. How can you help someone else succeed in God's work?

  2. David told the leaders to seek God first and then build. Why does seeking God come before working for Him?

Memory Verse

“David said, “Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for Yahweh must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. I will therefore make preparation for it.” So David prepared abundantly before his death.”
