1 Chronicles 15 · Grade 3
Carried on Their Shoulders
Read the Story
David built houses in his city. He also set up a tent for God's ark. He said that no one ought to carry the ark but the Levites, because Yahweh had chosen them.
David told the Levites that they had not carried it at first, and they had not sought God the right way. So the priests and Levites made themselves holy. They carried the ark on their shoulders with its poles, as Moses commanded.
David chose singers with harps, cymbals, and trumpets. Chenaniah taught the singers because he was skillful. All Israel brought the ark up with shouting. David danced, but Michal looked out the window and did not like it.
Memory Verse
“Then David said, “No one ought to carry God’s ark but the Levites. For Yahweh has chosen them to carry God’s ark, and to minister to him forever.””
