Read and Think

Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees, masons, and carpenters to build him a house. David perceived that Yahweh had established him as king. He understood that his kingdom was highly exalted for his people Israel's sake, not for his own glory.

When the Philistines raided the valley of Rephaim, David inquired of God. God told him to go up, and David defeated them at Baal Perazim. He said God had broken his enemies like a breach of waters. The Philistines left their gods there, and at David's command they were burned.

The Philistines raided again. David did not assume the same plan would work. He inquired of God again, and this time God told him to circle around and attack from the mulberry trees. David did as God commanded him (14:16). His fame went out into all lands.
