1 Chronicles 10 · Grade 3
The End of Saul's Reign
Read the Story
The Philistines fought against Israel. The men of Israel ran away. Saul and three of his sons died in the battle on Mount Gilboa.
The valiant men of Jabesh Gilead heard what had happened. They came and took the bodies of Saul and his sons. They buried them under the oak in Jabesh and fasted seven days.
Verse 13 tells why Saul died. He did not keep Yahweh's word. He asked a medium for advice instead of asking Yahweh. So Yahweh turned the kingdom over to David.
Memory Verse
“So Saul died with his three sons; and all his house died together.”
