Zechariah 8 · Grade 4

Don't Be Afraid; Let Your Hands Be Strong

Name Date

Read and Think

Zechariah 8 is full of promises. Yahweh says, I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the middle of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth. Old men and old women will sit in the streets, and the streets will be full of boys and girls playing. A safe city has room for the very old and the very young.

God says, Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country. He says, they will be my people, and I will be their God. As they had been a curse among the nations, now God will save them, and they shall be a blessing. God says, don't be afraid. Let your hands be strong.

God gives simple instructions: speak every man the truth with his neighbor, and love truth and peace. Sad fasts would become cheerful feasts. Many peoples will come to seek Yahweh. Ten men from all languages will take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, we will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.
