The Angel Says, I Will Clothe You

Name Date

Read and Think

In Zechariah's fourth vision he sees Joshua the high priest standing before Yahweh's angel, and Satan standing at his right hand to be his adversary. Yahweh says to Satan, Yahweh rebuke you, Satan! Isn't this a burning stick plucked out of the fire?

Joshua was clothed with filthy garments. The angel commands, take the filthy garments off him. Then he says to Joshua, behold, I have caused your iniquity to pass from you, and I will clothe you with rich clothing. Zechariah asks that a clean turban be set on his head, and it is done.

The angel tells Joshua that if he will walk in God's ways, he will have a place among those standing there. God adds that he will bring out his servant, the Branch, and remove the iniquity of that land in one day. In that day you will invite every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig tree.
